The White Line tells a story of hope borne out of a love grown in a forbidding time. Set in
1963 after the Old Location uprising which shook South West Africa, a black maid’s life is
changed forever when she encounters a white Afrikaner police officer on a routine Pass Book
check. Her view on love is altered and she must come to terms with being in love with an Afrikaner Police officer while juggling the emotions of her father and keeping this secret from
her employer. Their love for each other grows over time through the letters they write to each other, enduring many obstacles beyond the colour of their skin. But the relationship leads to
an unexpected gift which will either bring the protagonist’s family closer to her or destroy everything she knows and loves. The White Line is an authentic Namibian story that shows
how apartheid laws were extended to the territory of Namibia prior to independence under the South African administration.
