Selwyn & Gabriel by Richard Kaplan, writer of “The Finkelsteins are Coming to Dinner” is a magical modern mystery about two strangers with secrets.  Late at night, a young man is confronted in his own home by an enigmatic stranger. Something terrible has happened. What starts as a violent encounter evolves through the night into an intriguing journey of discovery about regret & real estate, flight & friendship, lies & integrity – and love as Gabriel draws Selwyn into the truth – a truth that is both tender and terrifying.  The play, under the direction of Tara Notcutt, features Kai Luke Brummer as Selwyn and Mbulelo Grootboom as Gabriel. Both are award-winning actors who bring freshness and passion to their roles.

“Selwyn and Gabriel … is a beautifully written piece of new South African writing and is well worth seeing.”  Ashraf Johaardien, Executive Producer National Arts Festival, Litnet.  “In this moving two-hander which blends humour, pathos, observation, joy and wit….we have a diamond of the Fringe.” Brett Atkins, The Herald.  “A theatrical gem. Five Stars.” Beverley Brommert, The Argus.  “A poignant, tender piece of theatre – wryly observed, skilfully crafted, funny and affirming.” Robyn Cohen, The Cape Times.
