A professional equine photographer and glass artist, John has over the past 10 years explored the age old techniques of glass slumping and fusing. In this process, dating back as far as 2000BC, layers of glass are fused and slumped into formers in a kiln.Working from his studio in Kloof, John produces a wide range of artistic as well as functional glassware ranging from jewellery to bowls, servers and massive decorative glass panels. His current work is taking the emphasis outdoors with experiments in sculptural garden art and water features.
A regular exhibitor at exhibitions and festivals, John’s work has found its way into homes in the four corners of the globe with recent commissions from as far afield as the UK and Australia. His home based studio and gallery are housed in old stone stables where visitors are always welcome to browse and watch him at work, whilst his glass can also be found in selected galleries nationally.
