Home Visual Art NICOLA FIRTH

Favouring a subtle palette, Nicki’s paintings portray a sense of serenity and contentment. Many of her references are photographs taken on family holidays in the Transkei and Mozambique – beautiful destinations which many of us can relate to. She is known for capturing languid Nguni cattle on unspoiled Transkei beaches, fishermen and women gathering their daily fare, idiosyncratic country landscapes and flowers. Over the past few months, Nicki has enjoyed painting aloes in full bloom and a personal favourite, proteas.
